Being three months later, sometime in the next few days I'll refresh the backgrounds on the wikis where I'm an admin. If you want one like them or have some other idea, just say. Actually I'm not entirely certain what I'll be doing for the other ones yet--maybe something Inaba Manaka-based, but I'm not quite sure what. She wasn't around nearly as long as Meimi or Kanon so there's less to work with.
Well, you can make one background with two images from when she was a Kenshuusei and another background with a image of her in Itooshikutte Gomen ne and another in Boogie Woogie LOVE... But if you want to make a different background for each Wiki I don't really know....
I suppose there are more profile photos of her than the singles ones?
There's been some suggestions at the English wiki; maybe including other major events than just graduations, like the Buono! return and maybe the Hokkaido Kenshuusei. I'll try some stuff tonight, and after seeing what I come up with for other wikis we can see how similar/not you'd like the Spanish one to be.
I've found this a bit more time consuming and difficult, since there's more to be done manually, and unlike that one with the groups from several months ago it's a bit more complicated than lining up rectangles. :) I've done the French and Chinese ones so far, the idea being by the time I work up to the English and Spanish ones more of the kinks will be worked out.
There are more Inaba images to work with, but those group shots of the Hokkaido Kenshuusei and recent Buono! are about all there are.
OK, how about this for here? I've got a file saved with all the parts in different layers, so still easy enough to make adjustments if desired.
With the Fixed (rather than tiled) background type it's harder to be certain which parts will actually show, based on a person's screen settings and bla bla bla, but I think I've got the people on the right side positioned pretty decently so they're less likely to be cut off.
These three images show how I see it with different levels of zoom in my browser. Usually I get around the middle, but the others are some extremes. It's hard to make sure the part you actually want focused on shows. But it was actually intentional to put the Kenshuusei on bottom. I figured that if anyone was going to end up falling off screen, let it first be the lowest ranked. :)
Ahh, nice. You'll just have to remember to re-copy it once in a while as changes are made--I wish there were a better way to share or automate some things like that that don't really need to be different between languages.
Hey Conan. It's about time for me to make some new backgrounds. I think I showed you before what I did with Riho and Kanon--these will probably be pretty similar, but for Meimi and (other) Kanon. Would you like one to use here, or just stick with the current one for the time being?
OK, I finally got around to this. I made enough for the wikis I admin + 1, but I didn't have specific ones in mind for each--so I'll let you pick one, and then decide where to put the others.
Here are the images. This time since they've both been in H!P about 5 years and I had 5 images to make, I more or less picked a picture of each from each year.
When you upload one of these in Theme Designer, I recommend unchecking Tile and checking Fix. It's not perfect since it matters on things like people's resolutions and other settings, but ideally this makes enough of Zukki show on the left side of the content area and enough of Meimei on the right.
Hey Conan. On Japanese H!P Wiki I recently put up a clock that shows JST time, at the upper-right corner of the content section, above the Contribute button. Now it's being copied over to some of the other languages too, though as I type this the change isn't live anywhere else yet. If you think this would be a good addition here, I can tell you how to add it; it's a pretty simple thing.
Once that's saved, at the right side of the page there should be a few buttons, "Submit for review" and "Enter test mode". Test mode lets you test the changes just for yourself, to make sure it's working properly. Submit for review will send it off to be okayed by whoever they have checking such things, and once they're done it will go live for anyone viewing the wiki.
Hey Conan, I see you sometimes make edits that change some of the wording I've got set up for the single pages, like replacing "Lista de Canciones" with "Tracklist" and so on. This is not a problem, but maybe it'd be good to go to the source of those phrases, so I don't use them again in the future. I could also have Robo Kiss make some of these changes on a bigger scale, like we did with the Oricon wording a bit back.
I took the spreadsheet where I keep the versions for different languages and cut out the stuff that doesn't really matter here, like stuff for the other languages, and we're left with a list of the English phrases and the current Spanish version. It's not 100% in order, but things are mostly grouped as they'd come up on the page. Words dealing with the type of release at top, section names, song credit roles all together, category stuff near the bottom.
Oh I see, but there is no problem, I can edit it myself because I think there were only two or three words that were bad translated, the other things I edited were missing information.
But, if you want to change it with Robo Kiss the words were "Lista de Canciones" (that good translated is "Tracklist"), Ejecución en Conciertos and Ejecución en Televisión (good translated Actuaciones en Conciertos and Actuaciones en Televisión) and Vídeos Adicional (good translated Vídeos Adicionales)
Hey Conan, I saw you deleted some categories like Categoría:Novena Generación and other generation-related ones. However, that just deletes the category page itself--the individual pages like Suzuki Kanon will still have it listed as a category, since that information is saved on each page itself. If you'd like, when there are some you really want wiped out you can tell me which, since that's one of the things I use Robo Kiss and the bot tools for--it's pretty easy to tell it to get all the pages in a category and remove that category listing.
Oh yes, there are some categories that I want to delete. The categories Primera Generacion, Segunda Generacion, Tercera Generacion, Cuarta Generacion, Novena Generación, Décima Generación, Undécima Generación and Country Musume :)
A few weeks back I mentioned the different style of member infobox in use at the English wiki. I've started trying to copy it over to the wikis of other languages. For most of them I haven't yet got to trying to make them look proper for the target language, but Spanish is one exception. I used the existing pages as a source for some of the needed phrases, but others I went to Google Translate so there might be some weird or incorrect stuff. I'll list all the replacements below so you can more easily notice the messed up ones. There are a lot more things listed than we see in most infoboxes--I guess it's just being completionist, we don't see a lot of infoboxes with shoe sizes listed, but whatever.
Other than looking different, one advantage of this infobox style is it will automatically take care of some of the categories. When the birth date is set, it automatically puts them in the "Nacidos en whenever" categories, and similarly when told where they're from it puts them in "Miembros desde wherever" categories.
Thanks. If I get this further along with the other languages, I'll probably make some list of terms like those that will commonly end up used in them, like I've got for the single pages in various languages.
If they're wrong, yeah. Hold off just a little bit, though--I can run a program to change the categories already on pages to the proper names, and will set up the replacement names so they keep the little bit of information already in them, like the category they're held in (assuming "Miembros por Prefecturas" is good?) and links to English version.
By the way, if you notice "Robo Kiss" in a page history, that's my bot account. It's the one used by the programs or scripts that do a lot of automatic edits. Bot account edits are hidden, so like changing the Miembro categories on all those pages didn't fill up Recent Wiki Activity.
At another wiki I just made it so the Member Infobox automatically puts people in a proper blood type category. I was going to do the same here, but want to get it right. It's not much in use, but there are already "Grupo Sanguineo B" and "Grupo Sanguineo O" categories. I'm pretty sure at the very least the i in there should be an í, so that's a possible fix. Google Translate suggests very different naming altogether, though, like "Tipo de sangre AB".
Hey Conan, since you're doing some editing over here, I thought I'd re-introduce myself. I'm unofficially the one who tries to keep some consistency between the H!P wikis of various languages. Using a bot to place interlanguage links, setting up similar kinds of categories for the various languages, things like that. I've also done things like make copies of templates in use at the English wiki, with the fixed text changed to the local language. I've mostly done this with stuff related to the release pages, so things like the CD Infobox, and the Oricon sales templates, since those are things that are relatively easier for me to fill in even as someone whose only strong language is English. But if there are other things you think would be useful to have here I can help get those set up.
Another thing you will probably find useful is that when there's an image at the English wiki, you don't have to reupload it here. As long as you use the same file name, if it doesn't find it here it will automatically look for the same one at the English site. This both makes it quicker to add, and in the future if the image gets replaced with a better version the change will automatically go to any of the non-English wikis too.
Thank you for your help! I will use all the advices you gave me, I don't know a lot about editing, I'm new to this wiki so I'll surely make some fails T_T, so if you see something bad here just say it to me and I'll try to do it correctly. Actually, it looks that I'm the only one trying to update this page so I'll work as much as I have free time.
Hey Conan, I noticed you set up the Boogie Woogie LOVE / Koi wa Magnet / Ranrarun ~Anata ni Muchuu~ page and it looks pretty good. Before you did too many release pages I wanted to mention something which might save a bit of effort. Release pages are one thing I can do a halfway decent job of adding in the various languages. I've got a system set up where I fill in the information like the tracklist, links, credits, and it will put in the appropriate section heading names and things like that. So I end up with almost the same page in Spanish and Czech for instance.
Some groups I haven't really touched; like C-ute, Morning Musume, and Berryz Koubou. They have so many old releases it's daunting to get started. But ANGERME and the younger ones I've got most of. I let it fall behind for a few months, but you can see I just caught up ANGERME, and should get to Juice=Juice, Country Girls, and the Factory groups in the near future.
What my system lacks is all the stuff that's not so simple to just stick in any language. The intro paragraphs about number of editions or new members, trivia, stuff like that. So it might save you some time to wait for one of my simpler pages to show up, then add in the more complicated stuff.
That way looks faster and very helpful so thanks for your editings here! There is only a small mistake with the traslation but it's very good anyway. Now I'm creating all the members pages (well, only the Infobox but after that I will put more information) and only that costs a lot of time so your edits in the singles pages will help a lot :D
If you see a mistake in any of the Spanish stuff I enter, just tell me and I can try not to repeat it. I usually try to copy the wordings from other similar sources or use Google Translate, and then rely on other bilingual editors to catch where it's going wrong.
Since you are doing a lot with the member pages I was thinking of copying over the member infobox from the English wiki, but I saw there are currently two versions and I'm trying to figure out what's up with that before moving it around.
The mistake is in the Oricon information, it puts Posiciones de la carta Oricon that literally means Oricon letter positions, a good traslation would be Posiciones en las listas de Oricon or simply Posiciones en el Oricon.
About the member infobox, I did the same infoboxes that were done in other members before, so I don't know about that versions :/
